Author Guidelines

The Journal of Communication and Behavioural Sciences (ISSN: 2668-9650; 1454-9492) welcomes original scholarly contributions that advance understanding of communication, behavioural sciences, media, journalism, social sciences, and related interdisciplinary fields. The journal encourages submissions that demonstrate theoretical relevance, methodological rigour, empirical or conceptual significance, and clear implications for research and practice. Manuscripts should make a meaningful contribution to the existing body of knowledge and should be written for an academic readership.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal considers original research articles, review articles, theoretical and conceptual papers, case studies, and other scholarly contributions relevant to the journal's scope. Authors should ensure that the manuscript is appropriate for the aims and scope of the journal and presents a clearly defined research problem, appropriate methodology or conceptual framework, and a coherent discussion of the findings or arguments.

Originality of Submission

Manuscripts submitted to the journal should be original works that have not been previously published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted work does not substantially duplicate previously published or simultaneously submitted material. Where the manuscript builds upon earlier work by the authors or others, the relevant publications should be appropriately acknowledged and cited.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared in clear, concise, and scholarly language. The submission should normally include a suitable title, author information, an informative abstract, relevant keywords, the main text, references, and any tables or figures required for the presentation of the research. The manuscript should be logically organised, with appropriate headings and subheadings where necessary. Authors should ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, citations, tables, figures, and references throughout the manuscript.

Title and Abstract

The title should be concise, specific, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. The abstract should provide a brief and informative summary of the purpose or research problem, methodology or approach, principal findings or arguments, and major conclusions or implications. Authors should avoid unnecessary abbreviations and citations in the abstract. A suitable set of keywords should be provided to facilitate indexing and discoverability of the article.

Research Articles

Research articles should clearly identify the research problem or objectives and provide an appropriate review of relevant literature. The methodology should be described sufficiently to allow readers to understand and assess the research process. Results or findings should be presented clearly, followed by a critical discussion of their significance in relation to existing scholarship. The conclusion should summarise the principal contribution of the study and, where appropriate, identify implications, limitations, and directions for future research.

Review and Conceptual Articles

Review articles should provide a systematic, critical, and well-structured synthesis of relevant scholarship rather than merely summarising existing literature. Conceptual and theoretical articles should present a clearly developed argument, framework, or theoretical contribution supported by appropriate scholarly sources. Such manuscripts should demonstrate their relevance to contemporary debates within communication, behavioural sciences, or related disciplines.

Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

Tables and figures should be used where they contribute meaningfully to the presentation or interpretation of information. Each table or figure should have a clear title or caption and should be appropriately numbered and referred to in the main text. Authors should ensure that all visual materials are of suitable quality and that sources are acknowledged where applicable. Data presented in tables and figures should be accurate and consistent with the information discussed in the manuscript.

Citations and References

Authors should accurately cite all sources used in the manuscript and provide a complete reference list containing the works cited in the text. References should be presented consistently according to the journal's prescribed referencing style. Authors are encouraged to verify the accuracy of author names, publication details, page numbers, digital identifiers, and other bibliographic information before submission. All sources cited in the text should appear in the reference list, and all references listed should be cited in the manuscript.

Ethical Considerations

Authors are expected to follow accepted standards of research and publication ethics. Where research involves human participants, personal data, interviews, surveys, experiments, or other forms of participant involvement, authors should ensure that appropriate ethical principles, institutional requirements, and informed-consent procedures have been followed where applicable. Any relevant ethical approval, consent, conflict of interest, or other disclosure should be stated appropriately in the manuscript.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, or development of the manuscript. All listed authors should have contributed meaningfully to the work and should have approved the final version of the manuscript. Any changes to the authorship of a manuscript after submission should be appropriately communicated and agreed upon by all relevant authors.

Plagiarism and Academic Integrity

The journal expects manuscripts to meet high standards of academic integrity. Submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism, inappropriate text overlap, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct. Authors should properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, and other contributions of others. Where substantial material has been reproduced or adapted from another source, appropriate acknowledgement and permission should be obtained where required.

Conflict of Interest and Funding

Authors should disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. Where applicable, information concerning sources of research funding or institutional support should also be disclosed. If no relevant conflicts or funding are associated with the work, authors may state this clearly in the manuscript.

Use of Data and Research Materials

Authors should provide sufficient information about the research design, data, sources, analytical procedures, and materials to support the transparency and credibility of the work. Where appropriate and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to make relevant data or research materials available to other researchers. Any restrictions relating to access to data should be clearly explained where relevant.

Language and Presentation

Manuscripts should be written in grammatically correct and academically appropriate English. Authors should carefully proofread their submissions before submission and ensure that the manuscript is clear, coherent, and free from avoidable typographical or formatting errors. Inclusive and respectful language should be used throughout the manuscript. Authors should avoid unnecessary jargon and explain specialised terminology where appropriate.

Submission and Editorial Process

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's designated submission system in accordance with the instructions provided on the journal website. Submissions are initially assessed by the editorial team for relevance, originality, basic scholarly quality, and compliance with the journal's requirements.
